FOIA Request Sent to Fox Lake Police Department Regarding Arrest Records from 2018 to Present on December 12, 2024

FOIA Request to Fox Lake Police Department Regarding Arrest Records from 2018 to Present on December 12, 2024.

In our continuous efforts at the Lake County Gazette to provide comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs, we have sent a request under the Illinois Freedom of Information Act (5 ILCS 140) to the Fox Lake Police Department. The request was made for a list of all arrests that have taken place from January 1, 2018, up until the present day.

The specific fields requested in this record include the arrestee's name, arrest date, gender, race, date of birth and the crime committed. These details are crucial for us as they will allow us to hold public institutions accountable and provide transparency to our readers.

As a media organization involved in gathering and reporting news to the public, access to such public records is essential for us to fulfill our professional responsibilities. We believe that we are eligible for a fee waiver as media professionals given our role in disseminating information.

We look forward to cooperating with the Fox Lake Police Department in this matter and will continue striving towards maintaining transparency and accountability within our community.
