FOIA Request to Lake Villa Police Department Regarding Arrest Records from 2018 to Present on December 12, 2024.

In our continuous effort to provide comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs, we at the Lake County Gazette have formally requested arrest records from the Lake Villa Police Department under the Illinois Freedom of Information Act (5 ILCS 140).

The request, sent on December 12, 2024, specifically asks for a list of all arrests made from January 1, 2018 till the present date. The information sought includes details such as the arrestee's name, arrest date, gender, race, date of birth and the crime committed.

As a media organization dedicated to holding public institutions accountable and providing transparency to the public, access to these public records is essential for us. We believe that this information will significantly contribute towards fulfilling our professional responsibilities.

Given our role in disseminating information to the public, we have also requested a fee waiver as part of this FOIA request. We are currently awaiting a response from the Lake Villa Police Department regarding this matter.
