District 109 has reaffirmed its commitment to providing a safe and inclusive educational environment amidst concerns arising from recent Executive Orders. The district's mission, vision, and core values guide its operations. Superintendent Michael V. Simeck emphasized the district's dedication to prioritizing social-emotional skills, committing to inclusive practices, embracing diversity, and engaging in respectful dialogue with stakeholders.
"District 109 is committed to providing a safe, inclusive, and high-quality education for all students," said Simeck. He added that the focus on emotional well-being and nurturing every student remains unchanged.
The district has outlined procedures for adverse weather conditions as winter approaches. Decisions about school closures or transitions to e-learning days will consider factors like precipitation, temperature, wind chill, and road conditions. Notifications will be sent by 5:30 a.m., ensuring families are informed promptly.
In other news, the district recently held a successful Kindergarten Signing Day event aimed at easing the registration process for new families. Feedback is being sought through ThoughtExchange to improve future events.
Parents are reminded that there will be no school on February 14 and February 17. Additionally, NWEA MAP Student Reports are expected to arrive by the end of this week.
For further inquiries or updates regarding weather procedures or kindergarten registration feedback, parents can contact their building principal or email communications@dps109.org.
