Emerson Middle School's Sarah Kurian wins North Cook Regional Spelling Bee

Emerson Middle School student Sarah Kurian has won the North Cook Regional Spelling Bee, becoming the first D64 student to achieve this feat. Kurian was the last speller standing among 28 participants in a competition that lasted approximately 2.5 hours.

Sarah, a sixth-grader, will now advance to compete in the Regional ISC Spelling Bee scheduled for March 19.
