Lake Forest School District 67 has announced the All District 4th Grade Community Outreach Program, an initiative designed to bring together fourth graders from Cherokee, Everett, and Sheridan schools. The announcement was made via a Facebook post on April 9, 2025.
According to Lake Forest School District 67, the program is scheduled for May 29 and will provide an opportunity for students to connect with future classmates while engaging in community service. Participants will create no-sew fleece blankets for newcomer families in North Chicago and assemble breakfast kits for the North Chicago Community Partner’s Family CARE Closet.
The event will take place at CROYA from 4:30 PM to 5:30 PM. During this time, fourth graders will collaborate on these projects, promoting kindness and teamwork as they prepare to transition to Deer Path Middle School. The district emphasizes that the event aims to build community through shared service and enjoyment.
The Lake Forest School District 67 Association of Parents & Teachers (APT) plays a crucial role in fostering cooperation between the school, parents, and the broader community. The organization supports student education and enrichment by promoting positive relationships and staying informed about district issues. Membership requires a $40 annual fee, which helps fund school programs and provides access to a digital Student Directory sponsored by APT. The APT Executive Board for the 2025-2027 school years includes leaders from various schools, with elections set for March 2025.
Lake Forest Elementary School District 67 serves approximately 1,600 students from Pre-K through eighth grade across three elementary schools—Cherokee Elementary (K-4), Everett Elementary (K-4), Sheridan Elementary (Pre-K-4)—and Deer Path Middle School (5-8). Known for its innovative instructional practices, District 67 focuses on inclusive education and personalized learning experiences that support academic, social, emotional, and behavioral development. The district's mission is to inspire and empower students while fostering respect within a dynamic and safe learning environment.
