Winfield 34 Board announces upcoming meetings and community events

The Winfield 34 Board of Education is scheduled to hold several meetings in the coming weeks. The first meeting is the annual Joint Board Meeting with Benjamin School District 25, West Chicago School District 33, and Community High School District 94. This session will focus on board training regarding legal requirements for the education of homeless students. It is set for Monday, April 21, at 6:30 p.m. , at West Chicago High School.

The next regular board meeting will occur on Thursday, April 24, 2025, at 7:00 p.m. Agenda items include student recognition presentations, recognition for board service, board awards, Freedom of Information Act requests, the 2025-26 board calendar, and TIF 2. Approval items on the agenda encompass Vision 2030, school treasurer appointments, summer school programs, an administrative assistant for special education and state reporting roles, SASED lease agreements, and the consolidated district plan.

Public comments can be submitted via a Google form or made live during the meeting. The session will also be streamed live on Facebook.

A special board meeting is planned for Monday, April 28, at 7:00 p.m. , mainly to seat Board Member-elect Carrie Linden and discuss board organization. The agenda for this meeting will be released next week.

In other news:

- Tiger Run is scheduled for Sunday, May 18. Participants are encouraged to register by April 24 to guarantee a shirt. Prizes include a $150 Target gift card for first place in pledge raising.

- Staff Appreciation Week preparations are underway. Community members can contribute by writing letters of appreciation or donating small gifts for a staff raffle.

- Field Day is set for Tuesday, May 27, with a rain backup date of May 29. Volunteers will be needed to assist with outdoor games.

- The Ronald McDonald House pop tab recycling program weigh-in is on May 16. The grade level collecting the most pop tabs by weight will receive a popsicle treat.

- Family Fun Night at the Kane County Cougars game is planned for Sunday, June 1, at 1:00 p.m.

- Monday Park Meet-Ups will take place after school on Mondays at Founders Park (0N020 County Farm Rd. ), featuring picture book readings and games.

- The annual plant sale has been discontinued due to Prosek's availability issues.

The last PTO/WEF meeting of the school year will be held on Wednesday, May 7, at 7:00 p.m. Everyone is welcome to attend.
