Flags in Illinois lowered to honor students after Chatham tragedy

On Apr 30, 2025, it was announced that flags covered by the Illinois Flag Display Act are to be flown at half-staff in honor of the students who lost their lives in Chatham, Illinois. The tragedy occurred on April 28 when a car ran through an afterschool care center.

The directive orders flags to remain lowered through sunset on May 3, 2025.
