Illinois observes Peace Officer Memorial Day on May 15

Flags covered by the Illinois Flag Display Act are ordered to half-staff on May 15 to mark Peace Officer Memorial Day.

Peace Officer Memorial Day remembers those who lost their lives in service to our communities. It is part of National Police Week, which runs from May 11 to 17.

Locally, police, fire, and other personnel gather to create the First Responders Expo. This year marks the 26th Expo, which will be held Saturday, May 17 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Gurnee Mills Mall, Parking Lot E.
