Coal City Trap Team finishes third in conference to close out fall season

The Coal City Trap Team concluded its fall season by securing third place in the conference, finishing with 34.5 points over Cerro Gordo High School.

Grace Sitar led the team on the leaderboard, taking first place among female participants with an average score of 21.70. Among the top 25 boys were Charlie Pfeifer, who placed 11th with a 21.40 average; Danny Fite, who finished 13th with a 21.10 average; Chaz Anthony in 15th place with a 20.20 average; and Ayden Hicks, who was ranked 25th with a 17.50 average.

“Congratulations to all. We had a great season and everyone worked very hard,” said sponsor Kelly Fite.

Coal City Community Unit School District 1 includes schools such as Coal City Early Childhood Center, Coal City Elementary School, Coal City High School, Coal City Intermediate School, and Coal City Middle School within Grundy and Will counties (https://www.illinoisreportcard.com/). The district employs 153 teachers whose average salary is $69,297 before pension contributions; about 78 percent are women and there are no teachers in the district with more than ten absences in a school year (https://www.illinoisreportcard.com/). According to state data, the student population is predominantly White at nearly 87 percent, while Hispanic students make up almost ten percent (https://www.illinoisreportcard.com/). In fiscal year 2020, spending per student was $21,619 for a total expenditure of $47 million (https://www.illinoisreportcard.com/).
