United Township High School has released several announcements for students and parents as the 2025-26 school year progresses. The daily lunch menu includes oven baked chicken leg with a whole grain dinner roll, country fried steak, corn, baby carrots, mashed potatoes with gravy, and assorted fresh fruit.
The 2025-26 yearbook is available for purchase until December 19, 2025. Preordered books can be bought in the General Office or online for $50 using cash, check, or credit card. Yearbook Senior Baby Ads are also available for seniors and their families until November 7, 2025. Each ad section costs $30 if paid by cash or check and $31.50 if paid by credit card.
Homecoming permission slips for outside guests are now available in the general office or student services and must be submitted with guest ID by September 24. Students are reminded to monitor their discipline records if they wish to attend the dance.
Students who are East Moline Public Library cardholders can obtain limited edition UT library cards during Library Card Sign Up Month either at the library or online.
UTHS provides two ways for students to access internet on Chromebooks at home: community-wide WiFi called LinQ that covers large parts of East Moline, Silvis, Carbon Cliff, Colona and surrounding areas; and wireless hotspots available from the Student Store for those not covered by LinQ.
A local social services organization named ALTERNATIVES is seeking student volunteers interested in helping senior citizens. Interested students should contact Mr. Davis, College & Career Advisor.
Guidance updates include Black Hawk College’s Transfer Exploration Night on September 24 from 6–8 p.m., aimed at high school students considering transferring to Illinois State System schools after starting at Black Hawk College. UTHS will host its first-ever College Fair on October 23 in Gym B from 10:45 a.m.–1:30 p.m., open to all seniors and juniors as well as sophomores enrolled in college prep or accelerated classes.
The Illinois Student Assistance Commission representative Ms. Eden DeTombe will be at UT today from 9–11:30 a.m. to help students complete FAFSA applications. Mr. Shawn Johnson of the Golden Apple Foundation will also visit today to discuss scholarship opportunities covering four years of tuition for future education majors attending college in Illinois.
A United States Army representative will be present on Thursday, September 18 in the Commons area to provide information about military career options.
In sports news, there is an open softball workout today from 3:30–5 p.m. on the varsity field; questions can be directed to Coach Alonzo or Coach Tapia.
Several clubs have meetings scheduled this week including Gamer’s Club (Friday), Fosters Voice (Friday morning), Student Council (Friday morning), Hope Club (today after school), Interact Club (September 24), and P7—a new club focused on faith—meeting Friday morning.
Volunteers are needed for this weekend’s Knights of Columbus Tootsie Roll Drive; interested students should contact Mrs. Drish in counseling.
Sign-up forms for the Powderpuff game are now available in the general office with shirts designated by class color: freshmen green, sophomores red, juniors purple, seniors pink.
