United Township High School District 30 has announced a range of activities and updates for students this week. The school, which serves Rock Island and Henry counties, continues to offer various opportunities for student engagement and academic growth. For lunch, students will have options including walking tacos, chicken chili tortillas, taco fiesta beans, mixed green salad, baby whole carrots, peaches, and applesauce.

Students who usually take BUS 29 on its second run will join the second run of BUS 27 at dismissal today.

A Europe tour is planned for June 2027 to Germany, Austria, Hungary, and Slovakia. The session covering trip details will be held on Tuesday, September 6th at 6:00 pm in the Commons. Students or parents interested in attending should RSVP by scanning the QR code sent via email or displayed above drinking fountains. Attendees are eligible for a $200 discount and entry into a $500 scholarship raffle. Mr. Greer is available for questions.

Columbia University will visit United Township High School on Wednesday, September 24th. Students interested in programs such as Computer Science, Engineering or Neuroscience can sign up in the Counseling Office to meet with Mr. Ian Davis from Columbia University.

ALTERNATIVES, a social services organization based in Moline, Illinois, seeks student volunteers to assist senior citizens. Interested students should contact Mr. Davis in the College & Career office.

Seniors wishing to retake the ACT can do so at UTHS on October 17th by signing up at the counseling office before September 26th; Mrs. Whitcher can answer any questions.

AP testing sign-ups are underway: students enrolled in AP classes should register with their teachers; others may sign up in the counseling office with Mrs. Whitcher if they have questions.

An open softball workout is scheduled for Wednesday from 3:30 to 5 pm on the varsity field; Coach Alonzo or Coach Tapia can provide more information.

The next Interact Club meeting is set for Wednesday, September 24th at 7:30 am in Room 119C with a guest speaker discussing the Peer Justice Program.

Sign-up forms for the Powderpuff game are available in the general office; shirt colors correspond with class year—freshmen (green), sophomores (red), juniors (purple), seniors (pink).

An informational meeting about joining the speech team will take place Friday, September 26th at 3:15 pm in room 224E; Mr. Greer can answer questions about participation.

The Panther Players' fall production features three one-act plays—"Wiley and the Hairy Man," "A Jury of Her Peers," and "Any Body for Tea?"—from Friday through Sunday (September 26–28) in the auditorium; student tickets cost $7.

Hope Club meets Wednesday afternoon from 3:15 to 5:00 pm in room 189V as Homecoming preparations continue.

Student Council meets Friday morning at 7:30 am in room 109S ahead of Homecoming week final preparations.

Latinos Unidos members meet after school Wednesday (9/24) in room 256N.

This week marks Hispanic Heritage Month Spirit Week organized by Multicultural Club:

- Wednesday (Sept. 24): Jersey Day

- Thursday (Sept.25): Como la flor/Sombrero Day

- Friday (Sept.26): Papel Picado Day

According to data from https://www.illinoisreportcard.com/, United Township High School District employs approximately ninety-six teachers earning an average salary of $65,666 per year before pension contributions; just over half are men while women make up slightly less than half of teaching staff. No teacher recorded more than ten absences during a school year.

The district's demographic breakdown shows that it is made up of approximately fifty-one percent White students, sixteen percent Black students, twenty-five percent Hispanic students and nearly three percent Asian students.

Financially, United Township High School District spent $19,622 per student during fiscal year twenty-twenty totaling more than thirty-three million dollars overall.
