As Principal Appreciation Month is observed, Hinsdale Community Consolidated School District 181 is highlighting the work of its building leaders, including Principals, Assistant Principals, and Pupil Service Administrators (PSAs). The district credits these teams with helping to provide a strong educational experience for all students.
The role of the PSA is described as essential in connecting specialized instruction, administration, and student needs. PSAs have expertise in special education and related services, serving as consultants and coordinators throughout the district’s schools.
According to district guidelines, PSAs are responsible for coordinating pupil services to ensure support for students needing specialized instruction. They also inform school-based teams about federal and state laws—such as those covering special education and Section 504—and oversee the implementation of district-wide procedures. Additionally, PSAs work closely with principals on pupil service matters, manage the case study process, and help develop Individualized Education Programs (IEPs). Their duties include providing professional development for staff, interpreting assessment data to improve learning outcomes, and evaluating the effectiveness of current services.
The district expressed appreciation for its team of PSAs: Kylee Nosalik (Clarendon Hills Middle School and Prospect School), Jessica Niyork (Hinsdale Middle School), Chris Reid (Elm School and Madison School), Leslie Springer (Monroe School and Oak School), and Michelle Nugent (The Lane School and Walker School).
“To our Pupil Service Administrators: Thank you for the dedication, compassion, and expertise you bring to your roles every day. Your leadership is fundamental to the success of our students and the strength of our community. We are deeply grateful for your service to our schools and the Hinsdale, Burr Ridge, and Clarendon Hills communities,” the district stated.
