Coal City High School student Becca Hall will compete in the Illinois High School Association’s State Tournament as a singles player representing the school’s Girls Tennis Team. Hall is among the top 128 singles players in Illinois and will play her first match against Wheaton St. Francis at 8 a.m. on Thursday, October 23.
Hall qualified for the state tournament after winning matches against opponents from Streator and Ottawa during last week’s Sectional competition. She enters the three-day tournament with 20 wins this season.
Coach Matt Leman commented on Hall’s performance, stating, “all due to how hard she plays, how smart she plays.”
The Coal City community held a send-off for Hall on Wednesday morning ahead of her departure for the tournament.
Coal City High School is part of Coal City Community Unit School District 1, which serves Grundy and Will counties and includes several schools such as Coal City Early Childhood Center, Coal City Elementary School, Coal City Intermediate School, and Coal City Middle School.
