United Township High School shares announcements on activities and deadlines

United Township High School announced several updates and reminders for students and families on October 31, 2025.

The school cafeteria menu for the day included chili with a grilled cheese sandwich, pepperoni calzone, baby carrots with dip, mixed green salad, applesauce, and Side Kicks.

Students participating in trick-or-treating for cans to support the Student Hunger Drive are encouraged to bring their collected items to Ms. Colgan’s room next to the wrestling room. The donations will be counted toward each student’s total.

Yearbook Senior Baby Ads are available until November 7. Each ad costs $30 and includes space for a photo and message. Order forms can be found in the General Office, Mrs. Green’s room (126E), or online by navigating through the Menu under Students to Yearbook. Questions about ads can be directed to staff as indicated.

The deadline to preorder a 2026 yearbook is December 19. Yearbooks cost $50 if ordered by this date through Skyward or at the General Office. After December, books will not be available again until May at an increased price of $60, with only a limited number available then.

The ESL department and Multicultural Club are co-sponsoring a Day of the Dead ofrenda in the Center hallway through November 4. The altar is open for all students and staff to add photos or trinkets honoring deceased loved ones or notable figures. Items should be given to Ms. Enburg in room 261W or sent via email for printing; all contributions must meet school guidelines and will require approval.

For sports, girls’ basketball tryouts begin Monday, November 3rd—varsity tryouts take place in the morning while freshmen and sophomores try out after school from 3:20 to 5:20 p.m. in Gym B. Information is posted on Google Classroom; Coach Pavelonis can answer any questions.

A mandatory meeting for wrestlers will be held Tuesday, November 4th after school in the Commons for both returning and new team members; questions should be directed to Coach Fotos.

Boys interested in playing basketball this winter must attend an important meeting on Tuesday, November 4th right after school in the Commons; inquiries can go to Coach Saey or Coach Whiteman.

United Township High School District 30 serves Rock Island and Henry counties (source). According to state data, there are currently 96 teachers employed by United Township High School District 30 who earn an average salary of $65,666 before pension contributions; approximately half are women (48.3 percent) while men make up just over half (51.7 percent). None of these teachers had more than ten absences during a school year (source).

Demographically, United Township High School District 30 is composed of approximately 51 percent White students, with Black students making up about 16 percent, Hispanic students accounting for roughly one-quarter at around 25 percent, and Asian students comprising nearly three percent (source).

In terms of spending per student, United Township High School District 30 spent $19,622 per pupil during the year 2020 with total expenditures reaching $33 million (source).
