United Township High School has released a series of announcements for the week of November 4, 2025, addressing students, parents, and staff about upcoming events, deadlines, and meetings.
For lunch, students can expect walking tacos, bean and cheese burritos, taco fiesta beans, baby carrots with dip, craisins, and applesauce.
The school is offering Yearbook Senior Baby Ads for purchase until November 7. Each ad costs $30 for an eighth-page section that includes a photo and a short message to the graduate. Order forms are available in the General Office and Mrs. Green's room (126E), as well as online through the student menu under Yearbook. The deadline to preorder a 2026 yearbook is December 19 at a price of $50; after this date, books will be available in May for $60 with limited supply.
The ESL department and Multicultural Club have set up a Day of the Dead altar in the Center hallway. The display invites the entire school community to contribute photos or mementos honoring deceased family members, friends, pets, or public figures. Items should be given to Ms. Enburg in room 261W or emailed for printing. All contributions must be appropriate for school and approved before being added to the altar.
Several guidance opportunities are available this week. Representatives from Augustana College will visit on November 4 and from University of Northern Iowa on November 5. Students interested in meeting college representatives should sign up in the Guidance Office. Black Hawk College is holding a free application week from November 3–7.
Ms. Eden DeTombe from ISAC will be at UT on November 5 to assist students with FAFSA applications or questions about financial aid for college. According to federal data from 2024, $4.4 billion in aid went unclaimed by eligible students last year.
Students and teachers interested in attending Masterworks II Diaspora at Adler Theatre on November 8 can contact Mr. Davis for tickets; student admission is free.
In sports news, there will be a winter sports parent meeting on Wednesday, November 5 at 6 p.m. in the UTHS Commons for all parents or guardians of winter athletes; athlete registration and physicals are required before tryouts or practice begin.
Girls' basketball tryouts for freshmen and sophomores take place today after school in Gym B; those who missed day one may still participate today by checking Google Classroom or contacting Coach Pavelonis.
A mandatory wrestling team meeting will be held today after school in the Commons for all returning and new wrestlers; Coach Fotos can answer any questions.
Boys interested in playing basketball this winter must attend an important meeting after school today in the Commons; questions can go to Coach Saey or Coach Whiteman.
Among club activities: Gamers Club meets Friday afternoon; Tri-M Music Honor Society hosts Music Bingo Night Friday evening with games and raffles—admission is $10 per person; Student Council meets Friday morning to discuss past and future events; Hope Club meets Wednesday afternoon; Gearheads meet tonight at Auto Mechanics; Fosters Voice holds its next meeting Thursday morning with refreshments provided.
