Woodland District schedules annual Stuff the Bus food drive for December

Woodland Community Consolidated School District 50 is organizing its annual holiday food drive, encouraging community members to participate in the "Stuff the Bus" event on December 3, 2025. The initiative involves Woodland school buses stationed outside local grocery stores where shoppers can drop off donations as they leave.

The event will take place from 4:30 to 7 p.m. at several locations: Gurnee Jewel, Marianos, and Aldi, as well as Butera in Grayslake. Organizers hope residents will contribute non-perishable food items to support families during the holiday season.

Woodland Community Consolidated School District 50 serves Lake County and includes Woodland Elementary School, Woodland Intermediate School, Woodland Middle School, and Woodland Primary School. More information about the district can be found at https://www.illinoisreportcard.com/.

According to the Illinois State Board of Education, the district employs 399 teachers with an average salary of $69,342 before pension contributions; most are women (84.6 percent), while men make up 15.4 percent of the teaching staff. "Help us stuff the bus for Woodland's 2025 Annual Holiday Food Drive!" organizers stated.

"Woodland buses will be parked out front of several grocery stores in the community. If you see a Woodland bus when you are out shopping, drop off your donations when you leave the store and help us stuff the bus!"
