First grade students at the Coal City Early Childhood Center recently participated in an art class focused on primary and secondary colors. During the lesson, students sang the Primary Color Song, danced, and studied examples of color use in well-known works of art. They mixed yellow and red to create their own shades of orange for pumpkins and combined blue and yellow to make green for grass. The students also took inspiration from Vincent Van Gogh’s "Starry Night," using his repetitive brush strokes to paint a purple sky.
Art teacher Mrs. Brncich commented, "These pieces were the perfect way to celebrate the fall season!"
