The Collinsville Community Unit School District 10 Board of Education recognized Lady Kahoks tennis player Toby Hawkes at its regular monthly meeting on November 17, 2025. Hawkes was honored for her achievements during the recent tennis season.
Hawkes played in the #1 singles position and earned third place in both singles and doubles at the Southwestern Conference tournament. She finished fourth in singles at the IHSA sectional and advanced to the second round of the IHSA State Tournament.
During the State Finals, Hawkes faced a challenging opponent from New Trier in her opening match. She won her second match against an athlete from Minooka before concluding her season with a loss to a competitor from Downers Grove South later that day.
Collinsville High School Principal Bobby Wright introduced Hawkes and presented her with a certificate of recognition signed by Board President Gary Peccola and Superintendent Dr. Mark B. Skertich.
"Toby worked incredibly hard this season to become a dominate force in the Southwestern Conference at the #1 singles position. She earned third place in both singles and doubles at the conference tournament, finished fourth in singles at IHSA sectional, and advanced to the second round of the IHSA State Tournament," according to district officials.
"Beyond her success on the court, Toby's sportsmanship and leadership set a standard for the entire Lady Kahoks tennis team. Her opponents respect her, her teammates admire her, and everyone who knows her celebrates her accomplishments," district representatives said.
