The village of Mettawa’s Zoning, Planning and Appeals Commission (ZPA) met 7 p.m. March 1 in the Cottonwood room of the Hilton Garden Inn, 26225 N. Riverwoods Boulevard.
The meeting’s call to order and roll call preceded the approval of minutes from the commission’s special meeting on Feb. 17, 2015, followed by a call of cases, including communications, committee reports and old and new business.
Headlining the evening’s agenda in new business was a workshop discussion of Case No. 16-TA-1, concerning an update to the village of Mettawa's Comprehensive Plan.
The primary purpose of the “Comprehensive Plan of 2025” is to supplement, update and replace an older version of the village's Comprehensive Plan that was created in 1994 — as well as its 1998 amendment — to advance the welfare of residents by creating a sustainable environment composed of three interrelated parts: social, economic and physical.
Village officials noted that the purpose of the Comprehensive Plan of 2025 is not to stop growth but to guide development to support the goals of village residents.
The plan covers aspects of land use, natural resources and community services and includes a dozen exhibits within the main body of its report.
