Idstein shocked that Yingling continues to stand by Madigan's side

Vote 07

Ken Idstein has a list of questions he would like voters to consider prior to going to the polls in early November.

“Are you happy with the direction of the state; is paying the highest property taxes in the nation working out for you; are you content with a state government that fails to provide basic services,” Idstein told the Lake County Gazette of the questions he thinks need to be answered. “If state government is working out for you, then stay with my opponent and Mike Madigan.”

Idstein is set to face off against Rep. Sam Yingling (D-Grayslake) in the 62nd District on Nov. 6, and has made a major issue of how aligned Yingling is with Madigan and his policies.

He was recently chagrined to see Democrats come together in mass to re-elect Madigan as chairman of the party.

“By re-electing Madigan, they have shown that nothing will change,” Idstein said. “If you want to save your home, renew your community and revitalize the job market, then come with us.”

Idstein said it completely perplexes him how Madigan has been able to survive the recent sexual harassment scandal that started in Springfield and ultimately found its way to the center of his political organization, leading to the ouster of two key members of his organization amid allegations of sexual harassment and abuse.

Coming as just as big of a shock to him was the way Yingling stood by Madigan’s side.

“When Madigan and the Springfield power structure were faced with allegations of sexual harassment, my opponent didn’t have the courage to stand up for the victims,” he said. “My opponent fell in line and continues to support Madigan. The way Madigan handled sexual harassment complaints against members of his staff was unacceptable, and he should have been forced to resign from his position as Speaker of the House and head of the state Democratic Party.”

The 62nd House District includes parts of Grayslake, the Round Lake communities, Hainesville, Wauconda and Gurnee.
