Barrington High football star E.J. Darlington has been named Chicago Tribune October Athlete of the Month in the Northwest zone.
The speedy junior wideout recently assured the Broncos a spot in the playoffs this season by scampering 84-yards for a score to lead the visiting Barrington to their fifth win of the season in a 27-13 victory over Schaumburg.
Darlington totaled more than 100 yards and finished the night with both a rushing and receiving score.
Earlier in the month, Darlington helped the Broncos erase a three-game losing streak by racing 60-yards for a key score against Hoffman Estates in a 41-15 Mid-Suburban West win that handed Hoffman its first loss of the season.
The Broncos end the regular season traveling to Oswego East on Oct. 27 before the start of the postseason.
