GRANT COMMUNITY HIGH SCHOOL DISTRICT 124: December Student of the Month ~ Lauren Gerdes

Honor roll 01

Grant Community High School District 124 recently issued the following announcement.

The Grant Community High School December Student of the Month is senior Lauren Gerdes, daughter of Neal and Sarah Gerdes of Lake Villa.

Lauren's academic achievements include induction into the National Honor Society during her sophomore year, consistently earning her place on Scholars’ List and Honor Roll, while holding a remarkable 5.008 GPA. She has also earned straight A’s on all of her semester grades to date.

Her extracurricular activities include Varsity Dance Team, earning Rookie of the Year her freshman year, All-American Dancer her senior year, as well as Captain her senior year. Other activities include Student Council, Future Business Leaders of America, NHS serving as Treasurer/Publicist junior year, Spring Musical as a featured dancer, and Math Team where she was awarded 1st place Oralist at Regionals and competed at the State competition.

Lauren helps her peers as a Big Dawg Mentor and Math Lab Tutor during study hall and helps at school events by working the book checkout, Parent/Teacher Conferences, Speech Meet, 8th Grade Enrollment Nights, and NHS Induction. She has given her time to the community by participating in the Fall Festival at Grant Township, Santa Pasta Supper, Community Garden, Triathlon, vehicle stickers at the Village Hall, the Fishing Derby, and many other NHS service opportunities.

In addition to all of her activities, Lauren works as a life guard in the summer. She was also able to job shadow in architecture.

Her plans for the future include attending a school such as the University of Notre Dame or University of Illinois to earn a degree in architecture.
