Gurnee Park District issued the following announcement on June 17.
With a passion for community service, both Gerry Crews and Saundra Campbell, were elected to Gurnee Park District's Board of Commissioners in April.
Commissioner Gerry Crews
Since his first term in 2011, Commissioner Crews has been a part of many projects including the opening of FitNation Gurnee, O'Plaine Park's Pickleball Courts, several playground renovations, and much more.
With 30 years of financial experience, Crews is a partner of JKR Financial Consultants, Ltd, a Retirement Planning Company and Registered Representative with LPL Financial.
Through the years, the Crews family has been a part of Park District programs."GPD has always provided a feeling of extended family to us," expressed Crews."I look forward to serving this amazing community for another term."
Susie Kuruvilla, Executive Director for Gurnee Park District shared that, "Gerry is dedicated to fiscal responsibility in order to plan to the Park District's future."
"It is a great pleasure to have him continue to be a part of the Board," Kuruvilla concluded.
Commissioner Saundra Campbell
Sworn in on May 21, Campbell expressed that "Gurnee Park District is dedicated to excellence. I want to learn firsthand, and collaborate with my fellow board members to accomplish amazing things for this community."
As the newest Board Member, Campbell is looking forward to continuing to support GPD. "Superior programs and services are provided with economic responsibility," said Campbell. "I feel very fortunate to be a part of this great organization, it will be a pleasure," she continued.
Not a stranger to service, Campbell retired from Gurnee Police Department after 25 years. She enjoys playing golf as a Bittersweet Golf Club member, and riding her bike along the Des Plaines River Trail.
Kuruvilla, shared her gratitude for Saundra's dedication, "Saundra Campbell has collaborated with local government agencies throughout her career, we're so fortunate to have Saundra's dedication and passion for community."
