Village of Mundelein issued the following announcement on Aug. 23.
The Mundelein Fire Department and Vitalent (formerly LifeSource) have alerted the Village of an urgent need for blood. Please plan to attend the upcoming Blood Drive to help avert a blood shortage! The Blood Drive will be held at the MFD Fire Station 1-1000 N. Midlothian Road on Saturday, September 7 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Appointments are available and walk-ins are always welcome. To schedule an appointment please call 1-877-258-4825 or visit www.vitalant.org and use Group Code MN10. To prepare for your donation eat well, stay hydrated, and bring your ID.

•7,000 units of platelets
