The Lake Forest College men's basketball team hosted the top squad un the Midwest Conference this season on Saturday, falling 83-63 to Illinois College.

Senior wing Johnny Roeser led all players in the game with 19 points on his Senior Day. He shot 9-for-14 from the field and also led the home team with seven rebounds. Sophomore guard Alex Knight finished with 15 points and was the only other Forester in double figures. He also dished out a team-high four assists.

The Blueboys, who clinched the 2022 MWC title with the victory, shot 55 percent from the field while Lake Forest was at just 43 percent. The visitors also had a 37-29 edge in rebounds.

The game was close early on with neither team leading by more than four in the first 12 minutes. The score was tied at 20 at that point but a 17-7 run by the Blueboys gave them a 10-point advantage five minutes later. Illinois College led 42-33 after the first half and scored the first 10 points of the second to break the game open. The margin grew to as many as 26 later in the period.

The Foresters fell to 10-13 overall and 7-7 in league play while Illinois College improved to 21-2 overall and 13-1 the conference.

Lake Forest will need a victory over visiting Ripon College Tuesday night to remain in contention for a spot in the four-team MWC Tournament. The contest is scheduled to begin at 7:30 p.m.
