Q4 2022 Recap: 10 parolees from Lake County convicted of sex crimes set for release

There were 10 offenders convicted of sex crimes living in Lake County released on parole during the fourth quarter of 2022, according to Illinois Department of Corrections data obtained by the Lake County Gazette.

The data shows all of the released offenders among the parolees were men. Of the parolees sentenced for sex crimes, one was a veteran, and the median age was 54. The youngest parolee was a 43-year-old man sentenced in 2009, and the oldest was a 72-year-old man sentenced in 2016.

The offender who had been incarcerated the longest was Robert J. Evans. He was convicted in 2009 when he was 29 years old. He is now 43.

Under state law, paroled offenders are still in legal custody of the IDOC, meaning they can be taken back to a correctional center at any time if the state has probable cause or a warrant.
