The Lake County Sheriff’s Office has announced the arrest of two teenagers following an incident in which one of them allegedly fired shots into homes overnight while both were reportedly in possession of firearms.

On November 1, 2025, at approximately 3:45 a.m., deputies from the Lake County Sheriff's Office responded to multiple 911 calls reporting gunfire in the 18400 block of West Meander Drive in unincorporated Grayslake. Upon arrival, deputies discovered bullet holes in a vehicle and two nearby homes, as said in a news release by Lake County.

According to the news release, deputies identified two individuals at the scene: Jabreon Bell, 19, who resides at the location, and his friend Sir Mark Hill, 18, both from unincorporated Grayslake. The pair informed deputies that they had been shot at by occupants of a passing vehicle. However, after reviewing surveillance footage, investigators concluded that both Bell and Hill were armed and that Hill was seen firing several rounds toward the southeast. A search of Bell's home led to the recovery of two loaded pistols, one equipped with an extended magazine.

No injuries were reported during the incident. The Lake County State’s Attorney’s Office has approved charges against both individuals. Hill faces charges including reckless discharge of a firearm and four counts of aggravated unlawful possession of a firearm. Bell is charged with four counts of aggravated unlawful possession of a firearm. Both are scheduled for their initial court appearance the following day, with prosecutors intending to seek their detention pending trial. As noted in the news release by Lake County, all defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in court.
