Incumbents Paul Greenfield, Jennifer Beeler, and Emily Lane have been asking residents to recycle yard signs after their win to remain on the Lake Bluff Park District Board of Commissioners.

The trio also communicated their appreciation to their supporters via Facebook

“Because you re-elected us, we get to recycle your yard sign!” the group said. “We will be by in the next two days to pick up your yard sign. We thank you all for showing your support! Jennifer Beeler, Paul Greenfield and Emily Lane.”

According to the official results, Beeler ended up with 18.62 percent of the vote, Greenfield with 16.94 percent, and Lane with 18.47 percent.

The race became controversial after a group of opponents sought to transform the Lake Bluff Golf Course into a nature preserve. The incumbents were supported by Protect the Lake Bluff Golf Course.

"They will continue to Preserve, Protect & Grow the LB Park District in everyone's best interest,” group administrator Deborah Fischer said in a Facebook post.

The Lake Bluff Park District recently noted that Greenfield, Beeler, and Lane were able to broker a deal to license the golf course to save the community money on golf course operations instead of turning the golf club into wetlands.

The public-private partnership, according to Lake Bluff Park District, "benefits the community because the Park District will save a projected $2.1 million of taxpayer money.” It also "meets a significant Strategic Goal, Financial Sustainability, while keeping golf in Lake Bluff.”

The trio discussed their successes as leaders in the park district while facing opponents in the April 4 election.

“Our public golf course had close to 30,000 rounds of golf played,” Lane said at the forum, Lake County Gazette previously noted. “Racket sports continued to thrive and we expanded our services to include four outdoor Pickleball courts with our partners, friends of Lake Bluff Parks. We were also able to expand our preschool program, adding another classroom to offer more to our growing community, all while following implementing guidance by CDC, state and local agencies, and continually adopting policies to provide a safe and fun experience for all. Jennifer, Paul and I ask for your support in this election.”
