Lake Forest mayor-elect Stanford “Randy” Tack is promising a “boring government” after a heated campaign in which he defeated Prue Beidler.

His opponent thinks otherwise saying "good government as important, engaging, consequential, responsible and exciting."

“It will be my priority to serve all citizens, in the best interest of the City. I will do all in my power to ensure all aspects of our government serve one purpose: your civic betterment,” Tack said on his campaign website. “We live in the best-run, most beautiful, and most talent-laden community in the state of Illinois. I ask you to join me in rediscovering our sense of self, and commit not only to strengthening our bonds to each other but to taking our City to greater heights.”

Tack was elected on April 4.

“I am into boring government,” Tack told the Chicago Tribune. “I don’t like controversy. I want to take care of business. I want to take care of roads and sewers, and make sure we manage our finances.”

The comments come after a bruising campaign in which his challenger, wealthy philanthropist Prue Beidler sought to derail the Lake Forest Caucus. Beidler is known as a philanthropist with deep ties to the state’s Democrat machine. Tack noted the controversial race in his election night victory speech.

“I think it is a good thing that the margin was fairly large because it takes away the issue of legitimacy that people kept raising,” he said.

Tack netted more than 58 percent of the vote in the April 4 election.

"I'm ready to get to work," Tack said of the win, South Cook News reported. "There are a lot of things that need our attention in order to keep things moving."

Beidler campaign Treasurer Dianne Casuto filed a complaint against the Lake Forest Caucus. The Lake Forest Caucus beat back against those accusations.

“This spurious complaint by the Beidler campaign distracts Lake Forest voters from what really matters in this mayoral race: electing the most qualified candidate. This is Randy Tack,” says Chris Benes, Vice President of the Lake Forest Caucus. “Randy’s complex problem-solving skills, organizational management experience, and adherence to fiscal responsibility has enabled him to make a positive difference in the lives of thousands of people. He is the most qualified mayoral candidate.”
