The Lake Bluff Park District is offering golf lessons to children in late July and early August.

The Junior Introduction to Golf class offers introductory lessons for kids.

“Junior Introduction to Golf! Players ages 7-13 will receive a fun and exciting introduction to the game of golf through games and instruction. Fridays, 7/28-8/18, from 4-6 pm at the Golf Club,” Lake Bluff Park District said on Facebook.

The Intro to Golf activity in the 2023 summer program offers children aged 7 to 14 a chance to learn the fundamentals of golf in a fun and engaging way.

Led by PGA golf professionals over four weeks, participants will develop motor skills, athleticism, and a solid foundation in various aspects of the game, including full swing, short game, putting, on-course play and rules and etiquette.

Limited spots are available with only seven openings remaining, and the cost of the program is $199.

According to Keiser University’s College of Golf, formal golf lessons can typically start around 5-years-old when children show a strong interest and have better attention spans.

It emphasizes that technology and increased exposure to televised golf events make it easier to introduce golf at a young age.

Keiser University advocates for children to also engage with golf simulation games to practice swing motions and learn basic techniques.

Lake Bluff Park District is offering a variety of other summer programs for children of different age groups. Mighty Sprouts is designed for 3 to 6-year-olds, offering two or three days a week of activities from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Camp Kick-A-Howl caters to 5- to 10-year-olds and runs from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., with sessions lasting two weeks and featuring beach exploration, open land activities, and building structures. Day Camp and Three Day Camp are available for 7 to 13-year-olds, providing the option of three or five days a week from 8:15 a.m. to 3 p.m., including field trips, cookouts and pizza lunches.

Musical Theater Dance Camps allow children from 3 to 11 years old to participate in musical performances. For parents requiring extended care, Early Bird and Stay & Play offer before and after camp activities for children aged 5 to 13, providing games and relaxation under shade trees.
