Peter Baker and Son Co., based in Lake Bluff, Illinois, has secured the winning bid for a second road resurfacing project in Lake County. The company proposed a $2.4 million bid to undertake work on Fairfield Road, a contract that was subsequently approved by the Lake County Board.
According to the Lake County Board's May 14 meeting agenda, the contractors are set to resurface Fairfield Road from Illinois Route 176 to Old McHenry Road. This encompasses a 3.3-mile stretch of roadway. The improvements will be carried out in accordance with the Illinois Highway Code.
The Lake County Board's May 14 meeting agenda also details that alongside pavement resurfacing, other improvements will include shoulder and centerline rumble strip installation, widening of the paved shoulder, culvert replacement, curb and gutter replacement, and gutter replacement.
The Lake County Board's May 14 meeting agenda further reveals that three bids were received for this project, ranging from $2.4 million to $3.03 million. The Lake County Board allocated nearly $2.9 million for this project using Matching Tax funds and plans for construction have been slated for this year.
