The Village of Volo has extended its contract with the Lake County Sheriff's Office, marking 20 years of their partnership in providing police services. The intergovernmental agreement, valued at $2.3 million, was approved by the Lake County Board and ensures the continuation of these services for years to come.
According to the Lake County Board's May 14 meeting agenda, the Lake County Sheriff's Office (LCSO) has been providing police services to the village for the past 19 years. The newly approved agreement extends this contract for an additional three years, effectively running through April 30, 2027.
The agenda further states that deputies will cover the village in two shifts of eight and a half hours each, ensuring a total of 17 hours of coverage per day. These services will be provided throughout the year without interruption.
The contract underwent rigorous review before approval. According to the same meeting agenda, it was examined by the Lake County State's Attorney's Office. Additionally, its costing model was scrutinized by the finance department for accuracy in inputs and calculations. The Risk Department also reviewed insurance requirements as part of this process.
