Village of Beach Park Village Board met Sept. 12

Here are the minutes provided by the board:

The Beach Park Village Board held a Regular Board Meeting on September 12, 2024 at the Beach Park Village Hall at 7:00 P.M.

PRESENT: Mayor John Hucker, Clerk Mary Jo McDonald and Attorney Carlos Arevalo. Trustees: Richard Gust, Don Jensen, Regina Miller, Linda Sittig and Larry Wells.

On Agenda

Items

Consent Agenda 

Tr. Gust made a motion to approve the Consent Agenda which includes the following items:

a. Approval of Village Board Regular Meeting Minutes – August 8, 2024.

b. Bills presented for payment in the amount of $517,226.45.

c. July Finance Report

Tr. Miller seconded the motion. Roll Call.

Mayor’s Report 

Mayor Hucker discussed the purchase of the Travel Lodge Motel on Lewis Avenue by PADS.

REPORTS FROM TRUSTEES:

Finance Committee

Tr. Jensen reported on the following items:

• The next Finance Committee meeting will be held on Tuesday, September 17th at 6:00pm.

Parks and Recreation Committee

Tr. Gust had no report.

Planning, Building and Zoning Committee

Tr. Wells had no report.

Public Relations and Intergovernmental Committee

Tr. Miller had no report.

Public Safety Committee

Tr. Sittig had no report.

Public Works Committee

Tr. Miller reported on the following items:

• The next Public Works Committee meeting will be held on Tuesday, October 8th at 6:00pm.

Tax Increment Finance Committee

Mayor Hucker had no report.

Staff Reports

None

OLH Raffle License

Tr. Gust made a motion to approve a Raffle License for a fundraiser at Our Lady of Humility Church. Ticket chances are being sold now through December 20, 2024. (The motion reads

December 20, 2025 it will be amended to December 20, 2024.

Tr. Miller seconded the motion. Roll Call.

Camp Jorn Raffle License

Tr. Gust made a motion to approve a Raffle License for a fundraiser being held at Thunderhawk on September 20, 2024 for Camp Jorn YMCA. Tr. Miller seconded the motion. Roll Call.

Ordinance 2024-O-14

Tr. Gust made a motion to PASS ORDINANCE 2024-O-14, AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 5.16 OF TITLE 5 OF THE BEACH PARK, ILLINOIS, VILLAGE CODE BY MODIFYING THE NUMBER OF LIQUOR LICENSES.

Class G license will go from 1 to 0. Tr. Miller seconded the motion. Roll Call.

New Business

Village Administrator Marc Huber, Mayor Hucker and Tr.

Jensen discussed the following:

• The Sheridan Road project will be finished by or before November 22, 2024.

• The work is starting on the Wadsworth Road project. Lane changes will start next week and the project will run through July 2025.

• Tr. Miller asked Administrator Huber that the information on the Sheridan Road and Wadsworth

Road projects be put on the Village website.

BP Fire Chief Stahl

Tr. Miller asked Beach Park Fire Chief Thomas Stahl about a garage fire in Castle Crest Subdivision in Waukegan. The subdivision is across from the Beach Park Fire Department.

Chief Stahl said they did assist with the fire.

Tr. Jensen asked Fire Chief Stahl about an incident that the Beach Park Fire Department assisted with in Pleasant Prairie, Wisconsin.

Mayor Hucker asked Chief Stahl about changes that were made at the Illinois Beach State Parks Beach area.

Tr. Jensen made a motion to adjourn. Tr. Sittig seconded the motion. Roll Call.
