The Lake County Sheriff's Office (LCSO) announced the seizure of significant quantities of narcotics and a firearm during a search of a Zion residence on January 14, 2025. The search, conducted by the LCSO Special Investigations Group (SIG), uncovered an AK-47 DRACO pistol, more than 420 grams of heroin, over 110 grams of cocaine, 70 grams of methamphetamine, more than 40 grams of oxycodone, and psilocybin mushrooms, according to an LCSO press release.
The search followed an investigation into Anthony M. Love, 43, who was suspected of narcotics distribution. Undercover operations provided detectives with evidence leading to a search warrant for Love's home, located in the 2300 block of Elim Avenue.
The Lake County State’s Attorney’s Office has charged Love with multiple offenses, including four counts of unlawful possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver, all classified as Class X felonies. He is also charged with unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon, a Class 2 felony. Authorities have filed a petition to detain Love while he awaits trial. His initial court appearance is pending.
The Special Investigations Group is funded by the High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area (HIDTA) program and includes sheriff’s detectives, federal agents, and local law enforcement personnel. The task force focuses on addressing drug-related crimes in Lake County.
Lake County Sheriff John D. Idleburg commended the efforts of the SIG team in removing harmful substances and a firearm from the community. The sheriff emphasized the importance of collaborative law enforcement efforts in combating drug trafficking and enhancing public safety.
