Senior members of the Coal City Boys Basketball team and cheerleaders were recognized during Senior Night activities on Feb. 7. Honored for their contributions to the basketball team were Zander Meents, Gabe McHugh, and Dylan Young. Honored cheerleaders were Sydney Hughes and Naomi Rodriguez. As noted during Senior Night, this group of students leaves its mark at Coal City High School with its many accomplishments over the past four years.

Zander Meents is a four-year member of the Coalers basketball program. On Senior Night, he was accompanied by his parents Nick and Kristi Meents. During his time as a Coaler, Zander also participated in football, serving as the quarterback and a captain of this year's semi-final qualifying team. He has also been involved in Coaler Creations. Following graduation, Zander plans to attend a four-year university; however, he is currently undecided on a school.

Gabe McHugh is a two-year member of the Coalers Basketball team. On Senior Night, he was escorted by his parents Josh McHugh and Amy Campagna. Gabe has also played football and baseball for the Coalers, earning All-Conference honors in both sports. His future plans are to attend Kankakee Community College where he will continue his baseball career.
