On February 12, the Family Engagement Team at Grass Lake School convened to discuss plans for a Multi-Cultural Event scheduled for May 10. The event is set to take place from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM. Organizers are seeking feedback on the proposed date and time to ensure maximum participation.

Dr. Ryan Wollberg, Principal of Grass Lake School, expressed gratitude for the community's adaptability during a recent snowstorm that necessitated an early release. He praised the staff, students, and families for their cooperation and understanding.

Looking ahead, Dr. Wollberg reminded families about upcoming school closures on February 16 for a professional development day and February 19 in observance of Presidents' Day. He emphasized the importance of these days for teacher collaboration and professional growth.

The GLS Food Pantry continues to support students and families in need. Donations of non-perishable food items are welcomed, with Kelly Porter available for inquiries at 847-603-5160 or via email at kporter@gls36.org.

From February 24-28, N.E.H.S. and N.J.H.S. students will host Coin Wars in the library to raise funds for Save-A-Pet. Each class will compete to collect donations, with proceeds benefiting animals in need.

In alumni news, Zackary Simonini, a GLS graduate, has achieved success in Hollywood with appearances in movies and commercials. He is now participating in FOX’s game show "THE FLOOR" Season 3.

Grass Lake School also highlighted its Backpack Program providing weekly food supplies to enrolled families. For more information or enrollment inquiries, contact Kelly Porter.

Finally, Dr. Wollberg reiterated the importance of regular attendance while reminding parents of guidelines regarding student absences due to illness.
