The City of Highland Park Police Department and Business Development Division have reached out to all affected business owners following a series of early- morning burglaries on March 7, 2025. The City has also communicated details of the event to all registered business owners.

The investigation by the Highland Park Police Department is still underway. Preliminary findings indicate that the first alarm notification was received at 3:24 AM, with response actions taken immediately, although the first burglary occurred at 3:03 AM. No injuries have been reported.

The vehicle involved in these incidents has been identified as stolen and linked to another commercial burglary in Deerfield at 3:38 AM. Collaborative efforts between Highland Park Police and Deerfield Police are ongoing.

A total of six businesses in Downtown Highland Park and three in the Crossroads Business District along Skokie Valley Rd were affected:

- Dairy Queen (600 Central Ave.)

- Jimmy Johns (332 Skokie Valley Rd.)

- Michael’s (1879 Second St.)

- Potbelly (1845 Second St.)

- Chic Cadre Nail Salon (181 Skokie Valley Rd.)

- Highland Tobacco and Vape (1821 St. Johns)

- BP Gas (695 Central Ave.)

- Hearing Health Center (185 Skokie Valley Rd.)

- Vacant space (600 Central Ave.)

Community members are encouraged to support these businesses as such crimes can significantly impact small enterprises.

"Typically, commercial burglaries like these target cash, not valuables or equipment," said a representative from the City.

Business owners will receive follow-up communication from the Office of Business Development later today with guidelines on crime deterrence and prevention. Additionally, each business will be contacted by their designated Police Beat Coordinator for safety recommendations tailored to their location. This program extends similar services to residential areas as well.

The City expressed gratitude for the assistance provided by both Deerfield Police Department and Lake Forest Police Department during these overnight incidents.
