Desang Tenzin '28 has been awarded a Davis Projects for Peace grant to improve living conditions at the Eutokha Monastery in Bhutan. Tenzin, an economics and computer science double major, aims to address resource challenges that affect hygiene, safety, education, and overall well-being of young monks residing there.

The project will focus on the monastery located atop Bhutan's green mountains. Many of its residents are orphans or come from economically disadvantaged backgrounds.

This summer, Tenzin will travel to Paro, Bhutan in the East Himalayas to implement necessary changes.

“The temple I chose to support through this project is close to a very popular tourist area,” Tenzin said. “I thought that if I could do something for the temple, it would promote peace at a global level to promote peace and words of peace and kindness to tourists and create a ripple effect across the world. ”
