In a recent Superintendent's Report, Dr. Winkelman announced that the district will release new social media guidelines for the 2025-26 school year this summer. These guidelines will affect students and staff across elementary, middle, and high schools. The initiative aims to establish a district-wide process to promote healthy and informed digital citizenship among students.

The guidelines were crafted by the district's Social Media Awareness & Digital Citizenship Advisory Committee. This committee was formed last fall as part of the Health & Well-Being strategic priority in the district's strategic plan, Framework 220. It includes representatives from key stakeholders within the district such as students, parents, community members, and Barrington 220 staff, along with experts in the field.
