Faculty and staff at Lakes Community High School are preparing for the arrival of the Class of 2029 as the new school year approaches. Several reminders and important dates have been shared with students and families to help ensure a smooth transition back to school.
Students are reminded not to park in the staff parking lot during ongoing construction, but instead use the student lot or the north parking lot by the field house. The main entrance remains open for normal business when construction cranes are not present. Medical, dental, and vision forms may need to be submitted by the start of school, and registration should be completed through Infinite Campus.
A number of key dates mark the beginning of activities for students and staff:
- August 4: Welcome New Staff
- August 5: Yearbook Distribution from 2-5 p.m. at the Athletic Entrance
- August 6: Link Crew Training at 8 a.m.; Booster Club meeting at 7 p.m.
- August 7: Yearbook Distribution from 12-3 p.m. at the Athletic Entrance
- August 8: Link Crew Training at 8 a.m.
- August 11: Fall Sports begin; Link Crew Training at noon
- August 12: AP Bootcamp at 8 a.m.; Fall Sports Night at 7 p.m.
- August 13: Freshmen Orientation at 8 a.m.; Freshmen Parent Night at 6:30 p.m.
- August 14: Welcome Back Teachers; Board of Education meeting at 6:30 p.m.
- August 15: Teacher Institute Day
- August 18: Freshmen first day of school from 8–11:30 a.m.; Fall Sports Team Pictures at 3:30 p.m.
- August 19: First full day of school begins at 8 a.m.
- August 20: Second day of school
- August 21: Lakes Launch event at 3:30 p.m.; Back to School dance at 7 p.m.
- August 22: First football game (away) against Richmond Burton
Lakes Community High School is part of Antioch Community High School District 117, which also includes Antioch Community High School in Lake County (source). The district employs a total of 178 teachers with an average salary of $63,920 before pension contributions; women make up about fifty-eight percent of faculty while men comprise forty-two percent (source).
