Community High School District 117 has issued its August update for families, students, and staff. The district's monthly communication highlights upcoming events, important reminders, and resources.

Parents and guardians are invited to attend "Back to School Night" on Thursday, August 28. The event allows families to follow their student's schedule and meet teachers in person. According to the district, October parent-teacher conferences will focus on students with a grade lower than a C, making this week’s event the main opportunity for all parents to connect with teachers.

Weekly newsletters from principals Dr. Berrie ("Sequoit Weekly") and Ms. Bowen ("News from the Nest") continue to be available via email and the school websites under "Quick Links." These newsletters provide current information on school events and contacts.

Homecoming is scheduled for September at both Antioch Community High School (ACHS) and Lakes Community High School (LCHS). LCHS will hold its homecoming during the second week of September, while ACHS will host its events in the third week. Families are encouraged to check the calendar hub online for updates about homecoming activities.

The district has renewed its partnership with Glenbard Parent Series this year, offering free access to online sessions featuring experts on parenting, college admissions, mental health, personal wellness, and substance abuse prevention.

Safety remains a priority in District 117. The district reminds students and community members about its anonymous tip line: “If you see something, say something.” Reports can be made by texting LAKECO to 1-844-823-5323; responses come from trained professional counselors. This service also provides support during mental health crises.

Superintendent Dr. Jeff Feucht invites questions or suggestions for future updates via email or phone.
