Coal City High School’s tennis team achieved a decisive victory at the Coaler Quad tournament on Saturday, September 6. The team secured 10 wins and amassed 170 total games. Senior Rebecca Hall remained undefeated in the #1 singles position, first defeating Mendota’s Ella Lewis 10-6 and then winning 10-0 against Gibson City-Melvin-Sibley’s Charity Miguel.
Newcomer Sophia Spoto also went undefeated at #3 singles with a 2-0 record. On the doubles side, Kamryn Hansen and Bridget Feeney contributed to the team’s success by remaining unbeaten as the #2 duo, adding 30 games to Coal City’s score. The team cited strong teamwork and consistent play as key factors in their performance.
The final scores saw Coal City with 10 wins, Mendota with 6, and Gibson City-Melvin-Sibley without a win.
Varsity Tennis is scheduled to play away at Plainfield South on Monday, September 8 at 4 p.m., while the JV Tennis Team will host Plainfield South at home.
