Two groups at Lincoln Middle School have been recognized for their contributions to the school community. The 8th Grade WEB Leaders and the front office secretaries were celebrated as D64 Shining Stars.

Principal Dave Szwed highlighted the efforts of the 80 students in the WEB Leaders program, which stands for Where Everybody Belongs. These 8th-grade volunteers help incoming 6th-grade students adjust to middle school life. “These dedicated students are instrumental in fostering a supportive and inclusive environment at Lincoln,” said Szwed. “Not only do they do that for our 6th-grade students, but their commitment extends far beyond this initial welcome for these students.”

The WEB Leaders also assist with events such as the fall festival, run games, and guide parents during curriculum open houses. Szwed added, “Their presence and contributions are invaluable to our culture here at Lincoln.” Teachers Tayor Miller and Alyssa LaTragna were acknowledged for sponsoring the group.

Recognition was also given to front office secretaries Colleen Hogan, Shannon Wicks, and Deb Nowak. Szwed noted, “Our front office truly runs this building, from parents to the support they provide students, to our staff. So much happens before the school day starts and after the school day ends, and our front office is truly the hub of the building.”

Colleagues described Hogan, Wicks, and Nowak as essential support staff who work behind the scenes. They serve as the first point of contact for parents, students, and staff. According to Szwed: “their dedication ensures smooth daily operations, from handling copier jams to offering support.” He also said that their welcoming attitude "sets the scene for our culture here at Lincoln."

The Eighth Grade WEB Leaders along with Colleen Hogan, Shannon Wicks, and Deb Nowak were congratulated for their roles in supporting Lincoln Middle School and District 64.
