The Village of Round Lake, Illinois, has announced the creation of a new Economic Development Manager position. The role is intended to help guide the village’s growth and revitalization efforts as priorities shift within the Village Board.

The Economic Development Manager will report directly to the Village Administrator and work closely with local leadership. Responsibilities for this new position include attracting and retaining businesses that align with community goals, revitalizing underused commercial corridors, leading downtown development projects such as the Cedar Lake Road realignment, and building partnerships with developers and business owners.

According to the announcement, this position was created by transferring duties previously managed by the Community Development Department. The move reflects a commitment by Round Lake officials to focus on sustained economic growth.

Candidates interested in applying should have at least a bachelor’s degree in urban planning, public administration, marketing or a related field, along with four years of experience in economic development or municipal government. Certifications such as IEDC or AICP are considered beneficial but not required.

The salary range for the position is $73,657 to $106,801 depending on qualifications, with an expected starting salary between $78,000 and $85,000. Benefits include IMRF retirement options, medical insurance plans, paid life insurance, optional deferred compensation plans, paid leave time and holidays.

Applicants must submit their resume, cover letter and three professional references. The hiring process requires finalists to pass both a drug screen and background check. The Village of Round Lake states it is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
