The Round Lake Police Department conducted a traffic safety enforcement campaign over the Labor Day weekend, resulting in several citations and arrests. The initiative was part of statewide efforts to improve road safety during the holiday period.
During the enforcement period, officers issued 21 seat belt violations, seven speeding citations, six uninsured motorist citations, five distracted driving citations, two traffic control device violations, one equipment violation, and eight other citations. Additionally, police made arrests for two instances of driving while license suspended, one case of fleeing to elude law enforcement, one unlawful possession of a controlled substance charge, and one unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia charge.
The campaign was aligned with the “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over,” “Drive High Get a DUI,” and “Click It or Ticket” initiatives. These programs are funded by federal highway safety funds through the Illinois Department of Transportation.
According to the department: "Through the Labor Day safety campaign, Round Lake Police helped to make our roads safer."
