The Robert McClory Bike Path is undergoing significant improvements to enhance safety and accessibility for its users. The project spans 12.3 miles and includes several sections in North Chicago, Waukegan, Zion, and Highland Park.
Key upgrades involve paving gravel sections with asphalt, resurfacing existing asphalt, making concrete and drainage repairs, and implementing ADA accessibility enhancements. The work will cover areas from Russell Road to Broadway Avenue and Old Elm Road to Vine Avenue.
Photos from the past month show progress on different segments of the path: Broadway Avenue to 10th Street in North Chicago, Glen Flora Avenue to Blanchard Road in Waukegan, Salem Blvd to 18th Street in Zion, Blanchard Road to York House Road in Waukegan, Vine Street to Bloom Street in Highland Park, and 10th Street to Washington Street.
The Lake County Division Of Transportation is overseeing this project aimed at improving the overall experience for cyclists, walkers, and runners using the path.
