Lake Forest Community High School has announced Lana Hernandez as the September Student Spotlight honoree.
According to Lake Forest High School, Hernandez, a junior drum major of the LFHS Band and a teaching assistant for the Symphonic Band, leads by mentoring younger musicians, supporting classroom instruction, and modeling collaboration, dedication, and resilience. The school recognized her through the Board of Education for exemplifying its mission, vision, and values, highlighting her contributions to both leadership and the learning environment.
The Lake Forest School District 115 Board of Education consists of seven members: President John Noble (2019–2027), Vice President Anne Geraghty Helms (2025–2029), Secretary Amy Connell-Donohue (2025–2029), and board members Robert Silvay (2025–2029), Gail Gamrath (2025–2029), Jenny Zinser (2019–2027), and Dewey Winebrenner (2019–2027). According to Lake Forest Schools, board members have completed various leadership and governance trainings including the Open Meetings Act, Professional Development Leadership Training (PDLT), Performance Evaluation Reform Act (PERA), The Basics of Governance, DCFS Mandated Reporter Training, and other professional development programs.

Lake Forest High School was established in 1935 as a public secondary school in Lake Forest, Illinois. It serves grades 9–12 with approximately 95% of its students pursuing higher education.
