District 181 has begun the process to find a new superintendent, as Dr. Hector Garcia will retire in June 2026 after eight years of service. The Board of Education is working with BWP & Associates, a search firm, to identify candidates for the role.
BWP & Associates collected input from stakeholders through an all-community survey. The survey was distributed via local press releases and posted on the district's website and social media accounts. This feedback helped create a "leadership profile" that describes the qualities, skills, and experiences desired in the next superintendent based on community priorities. Hinsdale Community Consolidated School District 181 serves DuPage and Cook counties, representing several schools including Clarendon Hills Middle School, Elm Elementary School, Hinsdale Middle School, Madison Elementary School, Monroe Elementary School, Oak Elementary School, Prospect Elementary School, The Lane Elementary School, and Walker School (https://www.illinoisreportcard.com/).
According to the Illinois State Board of Education, the district employs 282 teachers with an average salary of $94,227 before pension contributions; ninety percent are women and ten percent are men.
