Residents of Hawthorn Woods are being asked to donate winter coats as part of a local drive aimed at supporting veterans and their families. The initiative seeks clean, gently used, or new coats in all sizes, from infants to adults.

Red donation bins have been placed at several locations throughout the community, including Village Hall and the Hawthorn Woods Police Department. Additional drop-off points include Byline Bank, Helen Oliveri Real Estate Office, Kiddie Academy of Hawthorn Woods, and St. Matthew Lutheran Church.

Organizers say that every coat collected will be given directly to a veteran or family member in need. "Every coat collected will go directly to a veteran or family member in need, offering not just warmth, but also hope and dignity during the colder months."

The goal for this year’s drive is to collect 100 coats by November 14. Donations of jackets, hats, scarves, and gloves are also being accepted.

"This year, we’ve set an ambitious goal—to collect 100 COATS from now until November 14th, and we need your help to make it happen!"

Community members with questions can contact Kim Stewart at (847) 847-3514.

Let’s come together as a community and make this Winter Coat Drive a success for those who have served.
