United Township High School has announced several updates and events for students and staff for the week of October 14, 2025.

The cafeteria menu includes walking tacos, taco fiesta beans, bean and cheese burritos, mixed green salads, baby carrots with dip, applesauce, and craisins.

Students who ride the bus are advised that Bus 25 will now operate only one run at dismissal. There will no longer be a second run for this bus.

On Friday, October 17, all 9th through 11th graders will participate in the Pre-ACT test. Morning bus runs will be normal, but dismissal is scheduled for 11:15 a.m. Students are reminded to bring a fully charged Chromebook, a calculator, and a pencil. Seniors are not required to attend on this day. The school emphasizes punctuality: "It is important that students arrive on time. Students who are excessively late WILL NOT be admitted to disrupt testing."

ALTERNATIVES, a social services organization in Moline, Illinois, is seeking student volunteers interested in supporting senior citizens. Students can contact Mr. Davis, the College & Career Advisor, for more information.

Seniors have a mandatory cap and gown meeting on Thursday, October 16 during second period in the auditorium.

This week’s guidance office schedule includes visits from several organizations. The U.S. Navy will visit United Township High School today during all three lunch periods in the Commons area. ISAC representative Ms. Eden DeTombe will be at the school on Wednesday morning from 9 to 11:30 a.m., while the U.S. Army and University of Missouri are scheduled for Thursday visits during lunch periods and fourth period respectively. Students interested in speaking with these representatives should sign up in the Guidance Office.

In sports news, the Boys Soccer team will host Moline tonight at Panther Pitch with junior varsity starting at 4:30 p.m. and varsity at 6:00 p.m. The team currently holds a record of five wins and no losses in conference play and an overall record of fourteen wins and two losses. They are competing for their first outright conference title in over ten years.

Club announcements include an opportunity to learn about HOSA by joining the HOPE club meeting on Wednesday afternoon in room 189V from 3:15 to 5:00 p.m.

East Moline seeks volunteers for its downtown Halloween festival this Friday from 5 to 7 p.m., with make-up and costumes provided.

The annual Honey Bee fall retreat is scheduled for October 25 from 8:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., with RSVPs due by Friday, October 17th.

The Panther Players theater group will hold an informational meeting about their winter play “The Wonderful Wizard of Oz” on Wednesday at 3:30 p.m. in the auditorium.

There will be no student council meeting on Friday; members should check Google Classroom for updates and sign up opportunities related to volunteer events.
